Last week, thanks to some magnificent help from volunteers from the University of Maine, the lighthouse trails were cleared, repaired, widened, groomed, and marked, and the trail signs were re-installed. Lots of other work got done too – landscaping in front of the keeper’s house and around the bell was repaired, weeded and mulched. Inside the house, paint work was repaired and some work was done on the ocean side porch. The information kiosk was refreshed. The UMaine students worked with a group of dedicated Lighthouse Committee volunteers — it was hard work but worth the effort! A BIG THANK YOU to the UMaine volunteers, and to Professor Annette Nelligan, who coordinated this excellent program!
