We have installed 3 webcams at the top of the lighthouse tower at Burnt Coat Harbor Light Station. You can access the webcams here. The webcams show views into the harbor, across the entrance to the harbor through the Western Way, and SSW towards Heron Island. Now anyone with an internet attachment can see the view from the top of the lighthouse tower without actually being there!
- Offer scenic views from the Lantern Room to those who cannot physically be present in the Tower.
- Provide year round views of the seasonal changes to the Tower environment for all visitors, friends of the lighthouse, and Swans Island residents.
- Provide useful visual information to Island fisherman.
The webcam installation has been approved by the US Coast Guard and the Maine State Historic Preservation Office. It has been configured to minimize any changes to the appearance of the light tower. All components are weatherproof and attached inside the structure using magnets or other easily removed attachments.
